New opportunities

2011 has gotten off to an exciting start. We began this year by transforming the Linköping Technology Management office to a legal entity as its own “AB” within the Know IT group. This means that we know also have our own CEO, Roland Almgren. I got to know Roland at an assignment at Scania a couple of years back and I really appreciate the opportunity to work with him again. He’s a really experienced technology management consultant and when it comes to improving businesses with aid of business modeling he is leading edge.
For me personally this means a great opportunity to help Roland shape our business areas, to get a lot of experience from the transition “division” to “legal entity”, i.e. the corporatization process. Additionally I have been asked to be a member of the board which will be a really interesting task. So 2011, here we go!

Leaving the trees behind

Off I go to Gothenburg and the west coast tomorrow; it’s time to talk at the IBC Euroforum conference “Electronics in vehicles”. If anything it will at least be nice to see some old colleagues from Volvo and meet my current Know IT ones.

Besides the very nice assignment at SAAB there’s currently a lot of Know IT business development going on, particularly I’m keeping myself occupied with some ideas around agile development as well as technology management for less mature (in terms of electronics and software) organizations. The space and time for these kinds of discussions and concept evolution is one of things I really like about KIT TM. Oh and not to forget the thread around MDA.

As far as Android goes the time for playing around with Eclipse and the SDK is rather rare but I have been able to play a bit reading sensor data. Besides the serious discussions around apps that I have with a Gbg-buddy of mine I’m keen to try something around augmented reality (after first talking a bit with Torkel and then checking out some demos on youtube).

Men hur, eller but how?

How do one start blogging? I don't know. This is the first time. Do I have anything interesting to say? If you ask me, yes, I am interested in my own opinions... for the rest I let you decide.

I tend to contemplate a lot - when biking, when trying to sleep, when working, when driving - about different challenges in my area of expertise... what I lack is a good way to store these ideas, both good and bad... very bad at times, or even start a discussion around them.

Where I work, Know IT Technology Management, we are a lot of people who like to do this, contemplate and discuss, and while we occasionally get long interesting e-mail chains going about different subjects I think it is a waste of interesting ideas, hot debates and energy when we don't share it with whomever who is interested (in order to build even better ideas). So if I could write one post interesting enough to get at least 1 comment from one of my very talented co-workers I will celebrate with a beer, a Belgian beer.

Why English? Well I don't know. I felt a bit international today and maybe I'm already so high on this "me me me" rush from all this blogging that I acutally think that some day one of all my English-speaking friends will find this little corner of the Internet.
